Bump keys, also called
999 keys, are keys cut to the deepest cut or a 9 cut for each pin way.
Bump keys can be used in any pin tumbler lock. The biggest threat of the
bump key is the ability of turning a common or inexperienced criminal or
would be spy into a master lock picker. A lock can be bumped and defeated
in less than 30 seconds using nothing but the bump key and a screwdriver,
wood stick, or small mallet. Concealing a lock pick set poses a challenge;
bump keys can be concealed in plain sight on a key chain with normal keys.
